Healthy by eating foods that are HALAL and GOOD

Healthy by eating foods that are HALAL and GOOD

Health is a valuable thing that all creatures in this world want, how not if we are healthy we can live a variety of activities well without any disturbance. but if a day we are sick, then just to eat alone the desire to enjoy the food will be lost, if we are sick of the delicious flavor that we usually get only from the smell of delicious food alone will have no effect at all. As a result, we will lose energy and fitness, a tongue that is usually sensitive to the pleasure of food will only feel bitter when eating, it is certainly very uncomfortable, is not it? religion of Islam long before the existence of health science, has first explained this clearly in al-Qur'an, Allah says:

يا أيها الناس كلوا مما في الأرض حلالا طيبا الشيطان إنه لكم عدو مبين

Meaning: "O people, eat what is lawful and good from what is on earth, and do not follow the steps of shaitan, for surely shaitan is a real enemy to you."

from the above verse, we can take two important things that God advocated in food, that is lawful and good. If the verse is only read unseen, it certainly does not make us reflect, but try to read it with deep attention, contemplate, and begin to imagine how very God knows two important things to be done by the creature when eating something, that is kosher food and which good:

1. Halal Food

Halal (Arabic: حلال ḥalāl; 'allowed') is any object or activity that is allowed to be used or implemented, in Islam. So halal food is food that is allowed to eat. The opposite of halal is haram that is everything or activity that is forbidden to be used or implemented. The following are three criteria for illicit food or that we should not eat:

  • Foods of the Essence are forbidden, for example, carcasses, blood, pork, (animal flesh) slaughtered in the name of other than God, the choked, the smitten, the fallen, the headed, and pounced upon by the beasts. this illegitimate food is already listed in the Qur'an:

حرمت عليكم الميتة والدم ولحم الخنزير وما أهل لغير الله به والمنخنقة والموقوذة والمتردية والنطيحة وما أكل السبع إلا ما ذكيتم وما ذبح على النصب

This means: "Forbidden to you (eat) carrion, blood, pork, (animal flesh) slaughtered in the name of other than God, the strangled, the smitten, the fallen, the headless, and pounced upon by the beasts, except the ones which you slaughtered, (forbidden to you) slaughtered for idols."
  • Food/drink that way get it in a prohibited way, for example, stolen food, then although the food is data kosher because obtained from the steal, then the food becomes haram.
  • How to cultivate it, if food/beverage is processed with the intention to make liquor (khamr), then food/beverage that was kosher would be haram because processed into illicit drink, that is liquor.

from the above explanation, we can conclude that halal food is a food that is allowed by the religion of Islam, halal food also means food that is from the halal that is kosher, processing and how to get it also in a way that is HALAL. So let us examine again, whether the food we eat is halal? Is the food we eat derived from halal property? or does the food we receive from other people (relatives, friends, or anyone else) is halal food? we must do this given the prophetic traditions which mention:

قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: كل جسم نبت من سحت فالنار أولى به

The Messenger of Allah said: "Everybody (meat) that grows from the case (food) HARAM, then HELL is a place worthy of him."

Subhanallah, how firmly the Apostle commemorates his people, to the point that hell becomes a worthy place for unlawful food eaters. There is one very famous story, this story comes from the second caliph Khulafaur Rashidin, he is Umar bin Khattab. Here is his very wary story on illicit food:

"Abu Bakr RA had a slave who always gave a portion of his income to him one day, he served a little food to Abu Bakr RA .. Then he tasted a bit of the food, his servant said," Sir, usually you always ask me; Where is your income? But today you do not ask. "Abu Bakr replied," That's because I feel so hungry, so forget to ask. Now explain about this food. "His servant replied," When the jahiliyyah first, I met a people and gave them a spell. They promised me I would reward my services. And today I passed their village. "Abu Bakr ra shouted," You almost destroy me! "Then he tried to vomit the food he had swallowed by putting his finger into his throat, but because of the hunger he suffered, the food was hard to remove, and then someone told him that he could vomit if he drank a lot of water, so he asked for a big glass of drinking water, he drank it right away, and in that way he could vomit.

Someone said to him, "May Allah bless you." Master has gone to great lengths to take away your stomach, just for a bite of food. " Abu Bakr replied, "Even though I had to lose my life to get the food out, I would have to take it out." I heard the saying of the Prophet, "The body that grows with ill-gotten food, then the fire of hell is appropriate for it. I'm afraid if in my body it grows from this food."

   2. Good Food

The word 'Baik' has a fairly broad meaning, in KBBI only this word has 10 different meanings, but the meaning of the word 'good' in the context of the verse about good food according to Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI) is useful; useful, example: this book is very - to be read; very white water - for health;  from this understanding we can conclude that the meaning of good is meant food that has benefits for our bodies. In this world, there are many kinds of food, but God creates good food (beneficial) for our health. In the Qur'an, it is mentioned that:

يا أيها الذين آمنوا كلوا من طيبات ما رزقناكم واشكروا لله إن كنتم إياه تعبدون

"O ye who believe, eat the good of what we have prepared for you, and thank God if only unto Him you worship."

God's commandment of eating good food is certainly very clear, namely foods that contain health benefits for our bodies. Eat the foods we need (read: good, useful) not the foods we like. Sometimes we forget, often even lulled by some foods that we think good when the food is not good for our health, for example, goat meat, this meat has health benefits but goat meat is also not good for people who have high blood diseases. so the word 'good' here is intended for every individual because good for others is not necessarily good for ourselves, so also good for ourselves is not necessarily good for others. God gives many kinds of food in this world, on the other hand, God has also given us reason to think and choose which foods are HALAL and GOOD for our body.

Hopefully, it can be an afterthought and benefit us so we always eat HALAL and GOOD food. Amen. :)
